The crew at POP is proud to be a part of the Water Keeper alliance and will be a sponsor of their 2nd annual Stand-Up for Clean Water race this Earth Day on Saturday April 20th. The event starts at 9am and ends at 2pm and will feature paddleboard demos, SUP lessons, yoga on the beach, as well as a couple pre-race clinics.
The main event will be the 5 Mile Elite Race where experienced stand up paddle board riders go head-to-head for the number one spot. There will also be a 1 Mile Fun Race for those just looking to have a good time.
The Waterkeeper Alliance is a worldwide organization comprised of “on-the-water advocates” that are dedicated to preserving and protecting hundreds of thousands of miles of rivers, streams and coastlines. Waterkeeper’s recognize that over a billion people have limited access to clean drinking water and want to offer communities a way to exercise their right to clean water as well as for the wise and equitable use of water resources, both locally and globally.
The LA Waterkeepers work to restore Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay, and nearby waterways through enforcement, fieldwork, and empowering local communities to take action.
POP Paddleboards supports the Watekeeper cause as it preserves the key ingredient to our lifestyle in a legal and ethical manner. We want to empower our supporters to take a stand and do their part to maintain a clean and safe environment for future generations of standup paddle boarders. Check out the Stand Up for CleanWater Race to rep your love for mother nature, rep your love for the water, or just come down to have an awesome time and get your paddle on.
